Dr. Martin Luther King’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail” is the text used as the basis of a packet of skill-building activities. After a close reading of the letter, individuals identify the type of arguments King uses and the allusions he includes. In addition, they link the letter to their own experience by responding to a prompt about moral responsibility. Formal and informal assessment suggestions are also included. Although a great resource that could be used with any copy of King's letter, the worksheets would have to be altered to eliminate the referenced page numbers.
