Due to vandalism, war, and urban decay, many of the world's great monuments have fallen to ruin. Here is an interesting lesson plan that increases understanding of the dichotomy between what are intended as lasting tributes, and their unfortunate impermanence. To achieve this, class members analyze four modern art pieces that express the concept. For  homework, they sketch the discarded items they see in their neighborhood and design an assemblage piece.
