When compounds react with each other, the rate of the forward reaction and the backward reaction are the same when the reaction is in equilibrium. However, if other factors come into play, such as an increase in temperature, or the addition of more of the compounds, the reaction will favor the direction that has the "added stress." This is Le Chatelier's principle. Sal spends the rest of the video illustrating this important principle.
