I'm a Summer Reading Star!

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Instructional Ideas

  • Send this home with your pupils just before summer to encourage kids to engage in summer reading
  • Pair this with a summer reading list of your choice

Classroom Considerations

Learners should still be encouraged to read even without extrinsic rewards; however, this could be a good starting point for a reluctant reader or a fun activity for an avid reader

Pros

  • Children are rewarded for setting and meeting goals as well as finishing entire books
  • The teacher or parent/guardian monitoring the student's reading can fill in whatever rewards they wish on the colorful coupons included

Cons

  • None
