This How the Brain Works activity & project also includes:

Cerebrum, cerebellum, brainstem, pituitary gland, and spinal cord. Prepare your class for a performance task assessment on the brain and how it works with a scripted plan that defines these terms and identifies the functions the parts perform. Instructional Ideas
  • If one is available, show class members a life-like, 3-D model of the brain
  • Rather than follow the scripted, instructor-led plan, assign groups the various parts of the brain and have them present their findings to the class
Classroom Considerations
  • This resource is only available on an unencrypted HTTP website. It should be fine for general use, but don’t use it to share any personally identifiable information
  • The activity introduces the required terms and concepts so that all learners are prepared for the assessment
  • The opening activity should engage most learners
  • Some learners may be put off by the lecture format
