How Do You Find the Vertex of a Quadratic Function?

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Trying to find the vertex of a quadratic equation? Remember that the vertex is the minimum or maximum point of the quadratic equation and can be identified on a graph of the equation. First use the axis of symmetry formula to find the x-value. Then plug the x-value into the equation to solve for y. The solution is written as an ordered pair as they identify a point on the parabola.
