Sacajawea was a Shoshone guide for the Lewis and Clark expedition. Her presence gave the expedition credibility with the native peoples, who were less apt to be suspicious of the group's motives when they saw Sacajawea with her baby, Jean Baptiste. An account of her life is presented here.
