Fifth graders investigate the connection between taxes and government services.  For this economics lesson, 5th graders discuss the process and benefits of paying sales and income taxes.  Using calculators, students compute the amount of tax paid based on the percentage.  Students list the variety of goods and services provided by the government that assist everyday people, and discuss what life would be like without those services.
