Glenbow Museum: Mavericks: An Incorrigible History of Alberta

Curated by ACT

The Glenbow Museum presents the stories of almost 40 different mavericks who shaped the history of Alberta. The website breaks down the province's history into the following nine areas: Uninvited Guests, Mounties, Railway, Ranching, Politics, Newcomers, War and the Homefront, Oil and Gas, and Post Haste. Using this site, students will get a chance to explore over 500 primary source images, along with many audio and video materials, as well as interactive online media. The Teacher Resource section of this website is invaluable. Not only does it walk teachers through how to best use the site with their classes, but 27 Project Plans are provided along with specific Alberta curriculum and ICT outcomes connected with each learning activity. Assessment toolkits and helpful indexes for specific topic areas are also provided.
