Once learners are ready to choose a bank, how do they make a smart decision for their financial needs? Scholars help each other by jigsawing the research in groups. After introducing checking and savings accounts with the attached PowerPoint, assign each group one financial institution (choose those appropriate to your area). They create posters including all the details from the charts on the presentation. They research monthly feeds, online bill pay programs, overdraft protection, interest, minimum opening balance, and more to get a full picture of the institution. Consider even encouraging them to call or meet with a bank representative. Next, they conduct a gallery walk and fill out a worksheet comparing the various banks (included). Find sample poster photos attached.
