Tenth graders investigate the volume of a cylinder.  In this geometry activity, 10th graders create three-dimensional cylinders and use a ruler to determine the dimensions.  The activity progresses to the use of the formula to find the volume and allows students to analyze how changing the radius and height of a cylinder affect this volume.
