It is not far from the Tuluni Mosque, and is situated on the way that leads to the Mosque in the area of Al-Sayeda Zeinab. This area was one of the most important areas of Cairo, in the Mameluks' and Ottomans' eras. It was the most densely populated. This public fountain was located in a place attainable for the passing by. It provided people and their animals with the necessary water. Historical sources mentioned that there was a water basin for the animal and a Zawiya adjacent to the fountain, yet they are now vanished.
