Eternal Egypt: Public Fountain of Khusru Pasha

Curated by ACT

This public fountain is situated in the street of Al-Muizz Ledin Allah, in front of Sultan Qala'un complex. It is considered to be one of the oldest Ottomans public fountains that are still left in the city of Cairo. Despite the fact that this fountain was constructed in the Ottoman period, the style is an extension of the local Egyptian style of public fountain. It was erected by Khusru Pasha, an Ottoman viceroy in Egypt.
