Eternal Egypt: Head of King Ramesses the Second

Curated by ACT

This colossal head belongs to a statue of King Ramesses the second, standing and holding the sacred standard of a male deity with the Atef crown. It appears that there was an inscribed text at the back and the sides of the statue that had been deliberately removed. The statue shows the youthful king with his characteristic features; narrow eyes, small mouth, nearly oval face and wearing a composite crown.
