Esa/hubble: Coma Cluster Wide Field (Ground Based Image)

A 2.7 x 2.9 degree wide field ground-based image of NGC 1672's region in the Southern constellation of Dorado. This image is a colour composite taken by the Digitized Sky Survey 2 (DSS2).

In this image there is the Southern Milky-Way patch. At the centre, the constellation of Centaurus, where the globular cluster Omega Centauri is located.

The galaxy Messier 82 is located 12 million light-years away. It appears high in the northern spring sky in the direction of the constellation Ursa Major, the Great Bear. Here Ursa Major is seen in a ground-based image taken by Akira Fujii.
