Instructional Ideas

  • Differentiate for English learners by asking them to answer the essay questions in video format or by working with a partner
  • An in-depth review of the tensions between the North and South beforehand may prove helpful to the lesson

Classroom Considerations

  • Takes some prep work, which mostly consists of printing and distributing handouts
  • Word files are large and may take extra time to load/open

Pros

  • Includes a bell ringer to help scaffold learning
  • Builds skills analyzing and comparing primary sources discussing the same event but with multiple points of view

Cons

  • Lacks variety and may not engage all learners
