Combinations to 20

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

Ten frames are a great way to help visualize simple math problems, evidenced in this clear and concise word problems activity. Each question features two ten frames for learners to use as they solve. All numbers are 20 or less. Questions elicit basic subtraction skills, however students are using the ten frames to approach this skill at an introductory level. The format is, "John has X cats. He wants X. How many more does he need?" There are five questions.
