Class Flow: Martin Luther King, Jr. Comprehension Activity

Curated by ACT

[Free Registration/Login Required] This lesson is geared for a comprehension activity for the book, "My Brother, Martin" by Christine King Farris (MLK Jr.'s sister). It is intended to be a comprehension lesson based around the reading strategy of Intra-Act. This lesson can be used as a template for many other text comprehension activities by simply removing specific questions about "My Brother, Martin" and replacing it with a different text. This strategy encourages pre-reading strategies, reflection, and forming opinions with group members through collaboration. It's great for ESL students, struggling readers, average learners, as well as GIFTED students. This is also an appropriate strategy from grades 3 and up.
