Students explore cattle drives. In this United States history and letter writing lesson plan, students write a letter to their family predicting possible problems that were encountered by participants in cattle drives. Students design brands, "brand" their cattle, and participate in a simulation of a cattle drive. Students write a second letter describing their experience.
