Middle schoolers work in literary circles to discuss Catherine, Called Birdy.  In this Catherine, Called Birdy instructional activity, students brainstorm ideas for discussion and observe as the teacher models a good discussion group.  Middle schoolers record strategies and move to heterogeneous discussion groups.
