Creative Canjos is an interdisciplinary unit that teaches American History through Folk Art and Folk Music. The learners began the project in Art class. They were introduced to American Folk Art through a teacher made iMovie. The iMovie was composed of slides of different types of American Folk Art that included quilts, weathervanes, pottery, paintings, and sculpture. The students then each created a sketch in the style of American Folk Art. These designs were painted onto the can of the canjo.
