Instructional Ideas

  • Consider using eraser boxes to hold tickets for an in-class shop or raffle
  • Display as classroom decorations that can be re-used each year
  • Use as an alternative to nameplates by having learners write their names on one panel of the pencil and placing on their desks
  • Teach learners about basic shapes as they put together the project and having them identify the shapes once the boxes have been assembled

Classroom Considerations

  • Print shapes on thicker paper or card stock so final products will be more sturdy
  • There are no explicit directions for how to assemble the pieces, though knowing that dotted lines must be folded, it is a fairly intuitive process once the shapes are cut out

Pros

  • Template is offered in different colors, as well as blank for learners to use their own color choice

Cons

  • Cutting out the shapes will require some precision and careful handling, and so may be very time consuming and is best suited for learners with more developed fine motor skills
