Sixth graders explore the relationship between area and perimeter. After discovering the definition of perimeter, 6th graders work together to create designs for a flower bed. They observe that the perimeter remains constant even though the area and shape changes. The class investigates and solves real life problems involving area and perimeter. They use toothpicks and other manipulates to demonstrate the problems.
