Students learn about bats.  In this bats and comprehension instructional activity, students read Stellaluna and share what they know about bats.  Students complete a learning log and Internet bat research worksheet.

Learners read "The Popcorn Book" by Tomie dePaola and complete a variety of comprehension exercises. They discuss the text, identify facts presented in the book and the evidence supporting those facts and fill in the blanks of a worksheet.

Third graders are introduced to bones as the body's means of support and protection. They research bone facts and conduct an experiment with chicken bones. They identify and observe involuntary muscles at work.
