Students examine George Washington's belief in etiquette and respect for others, which he achieved by following 110 rules of civility, and create their own rule of civility.

Students listen to "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and summarize to story to demonstrate comprehension. They review the days of the week and create their own book.

Learners read a book as a group about bullies and being mean to one another. They answer questions as a class and discuss what to do instead if you are ever in this situation.

As a group, students read a book about self-esteem. They answer questions as a class about having high self-esteem and discuss it.

Students research and discuss symbols and features of their state. They create a mural representing their state and design a quarter for their state.

Students take turns writing to an advise columnist and replying to those letters. They solve the problem by writing letters that solve the problem.

Students create original short stories that feature distinctive weather phenomena, such as rainbows, snowstorms, tornadoes, thunder and/or lightning. They use a story map, imbedded in this plane, to help them organize their story.

Young scholars examine alternatives to wasteful, non-environmental holiday season and general gift-giving practices and discuss ideas for saving energy in holiday celebrations and day-to-day practices.
