Alphabet Madness
Starting with letter "A", call out each letter of the alphabet, and a corresponding word or phrase that begins with that letter. The teacher can expound on the word/phrase to create an image and to promote movement.

The Gifts of Trees
Students examine the various things trees give us. They read the book, "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein, cook a food using a tree fruit, create notepads using unused paper, construct a picture frame with twigs, and write a poem.

Mexican Version of The Night Before Christmas (Middle, Language)
Students read a poem aloud called the "Mexican Version of the Night Before Christmas. They enact the scenes of the poem. They discuss variations of this poem both in English and Spanish.

Roll the Die
Students choose six exercises or sports movements. These should be ones students are familiar with, in order to save time. Assign each a number on the die (see "materials" above); hang the big poster for all to see.

Motion Capture and Analysis
Students capture the serve motion of a tennis player with a digital or video camera. Using transparencies or a software package, analyze the speed, acceleration, displacement and time of the racquet head and ball in the tennis stroke.

Students work in small groups to create a word web or other graphic organizer that explores one or more of the following words: rivalry, peace, trust, suspicion, or impulse. They discuss the pros and cons of "healthy competition."
