Students compare and contrast American and Spanish cultures. In this culture lesson, students listen to a guest speaker talk about Spain and then participate in a simulation featuring Spain's culture.

Students be able to: students identify the foods associated with Mexico and compare and contrast these foods with the foods associated wtih their region of the U.S. They write menus, take quizzes and practice ordering a meal in Spanish.

Students explore the history of Mexican food and study the Spanish names for common foods. They create a menu of foods using these Spanish words.

Fifth graders, following a lecture on the history of Mexican food, recognize and order Mexican cuisine, at a restaurant.
