Fourth graders investigate the concepts of looking at sets of data. The focus of the study is upon the local weather of Utah. They study the weather found in the city and in the country and make comparisons based upon geographical location.

During this mini-unit, students will develop a t-shirt with a glyph that represents their own personalities. Then students will read the glyphs of others using a legend to understand the data on the glyphs.

This is one of my favorite Open House activities. We use our shapes to create "mystery" glyphs that are hung in the hallway. Families use the legend to guess their child's glyph!
