Students examine the bridges of Washington State. They focus on the suspension bridge between Tacoma and Gig Harbor. They see how three different types of bridges work by rotating students through bridge stations.

Students create a model bridge using steel. In this bridges lesson plan, students study John Augustus Roebling and how he created bridges out of steel and the impact it had on society. Then students build their own bridge model.

Students participate in various activities investigating the Mackinac Bridge. They explore various websites, read a history of the bridge, view live Webcams, take a Virtual Tour, and compare the Mackinac Bridge to other bridges in Michigan.
