Middle schoolers learn how to compose a compare and contrast paragraph based on analyzing two or more perspectives of a single historical event. They watch a video, read a shot story and a poem about Rosa Parks. They discuss how word choice and the author's craft was used to convey this one event differently. They then compose a compare and contrast paragraph citing textual evidence to support their assertions.
