Instructional Ideas

  • Complete this activity as a culminating project for a biology unit on evolution
  • Have students research additional events to include on their timelines
  • After completing the activity, hold a gallery walk where students can view and leave comments on each others' work
  • Assign each group a different time span to focus on, afterward assembling their work into a large timeline to display in the classrom
Classroom Considerations

  • The activity calls for the timelines to be created on pieces of paper six meters long, but depending on the size of your classroom, you may want to adjust the scale of the project
  • This resource is only available on an unencrypted HTTP website. It should be fine for general use, but don’t use it to share any personally identifiable information
