STEMbite: Measuring the Earth's Diameter

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

During the less than two minutes of this homemade video, the videographer attempts to show that Earth's diameter can be computed by timing the setting of the sun from two different heights above ground. He doesn't provide the formula required for the calculation, however. He begins by lying down to watch the sun set, but fails to get a good view when he stands up to measure the ending time. As a result of these two issues, the video is rendered practically useless for the classroom.
