Depending on which story scholars choose to complete, learners locate textual evidence to prove that the Quimbys are a happy family, list Ramona's experiences and the lessons she learned from them, keep a journal, and analyze the character of Ramona in order to complete a cluster chart.

Instructional Ideas

  • With the exception of the graphic organizer, give readers the choice of which book they wish to read and complete the corresponding activity 
  • Keep the journal and "idea jar" going after the book has been read, provide time during the day or at home to complete one or several journal entries throughout the week
  • Invite class members to give a brief synopsis of the book they read and their completed activity

  • Requires the following books written by Beverly Cleary—Ramona Quimby Age 8, Ramona Forever, and Just for Me: Romona Quimby Journal
  • Color copies look best 
  • This resource is only available on an unencrypted HTTP website. It should be fine for general use, but don’t use it to share any personally identifiable information
