Instructional Ideas

  • Teach the first lesson near the beginning of the year as an introduction to the different types of writing, leading into more detailed units that focus on each form of writing
  • When completing the Order! Order! activity, allow students to cut apart the sentences and physically arrange them in the correct sequence
  • Have the class keep copies of the two reference documents in their writing folders, using them to support their writing throughout the year
