Middle schoolers examine character motivation using excerpts from the play Diary of Anne Frank by Francis Goodrich and Albert Hackett. The idea behind this lesson is sound, but the resource is really just a couple of excerpts and some guided discussion ideas. However, if you're reading the play, you could come up with supplementary activities or materials to make explicit how your learners should cite the text to justify their comments.
