Via the National Weather Service website, your science class examines five layers of the ocean. They discuss James Cameron's submersible expedition to the deepest trench and think about what animals might live there. In groups, they "design" a deep-ocean organism, keeping in mind the lack of light and the tremendous pressure. Afterward, they watch a video where Mr. Cameron shares what he found out. If you teach a marine biology or an oceanography unit, this lesson will be particularly useful!
