Gender Equality Teacher Resources

While equality between the genders is closer today than ever before, there is still a lot of work to so. And your classroom is a great place to start!

Provide girls with a helpful booklet on healthy lifestyles and development before beginning a lesson on gender roles and stereotypes. A more thorough module explores overarching concerns regarding gender inequality, and how to positively impact both the local and global community.

Connect the concept to a language arts class with a video about language as an indicator of gender inequality, based on assertions from Joan Wallach Scott’s Gender and the Politics of History. You can also address gender equality in math class with a statistical analysis activity on the wage gap between men and women.

Extend the conversation into the realm of athletics with a video on Title IX and the rights of women in sports. For advanced learners, an exploration into the modern movement for men’s equal rights is sure to spark debate, while a lesson on gender identification can help to open pupils’ minds.
