We are given the area of a square and asked to find the side length of the square. We will review and use the formula A=s^2, (A equals s squared.) We will rewrite the formula replacing A with the numerical value given for the area. We will solve for s by finding the square root of each side since that is the inverse of squaring a value. We use a number line to estimate the square root since we are not allowed to use a calculator. We will identify which to perfect squares the irrational value lies between. We will eliminate answer choices that are not between these two perfect squares. We will identify which of the answer choices is the closest approximation to the irrational value using the number line.\n
