After being left out in the cold for days on end, Hero lost both of his back legs to frostbite.

Kitty Martin is a retired truck driver who has an undying passion for rescuing animals. At her farm, she has more than 100 animals, including ducks, cats, dogs and horses.

\"I am a child of neglect, also, so it hit pretty near home,\" Kitty recalled. \"I had people fighting for me growing up and it made all the difference in the world. He needed somebody to fight for him and that's what kept me in there swinging!\"

Kitty adopted Hero at a mere 50 pounds. Now he is a whopping 650 pounds, and is happy and healthy. Watch and hear how her love for Hero helped pull him through Together, they are truly hometown heroes!
