I could never keep them looking bright white, even after endlessly sending them through the wash. After doing...\nI switched years ago to cotton kitchen towels and napkins but always ran into a problem: they quickly turned grey and stained. I could never keep them looking bright white, even after endlessly sending them through the wash. After doing a little research, I learned that soaking them in OxyClean would do the trick (OxyClean is a great, earth-friendly substitute for bleach). Okay great, problem solved! But now a new problem: I had no attention span for soaking. So, I came up with the Kitchen Soaking Jar Method. Simply take a big IKEA glass jar, fill it with OxyClean and hot water, drop in the towels and napkins all week long (it's very satisfying), then wash them regularly at the end of the week and -- Tada! They soak out the worst stains and wash up BRIGHT WHITE. Plus you feel very virtuous every time you see your towels and napkins getting soaked clean.
