The ensuing battle resulted in catastrophic losses for the Americans, with over two-thirds of St. Clair’s force killed, wounded, or missing, marking the worst defeat ever suffered by the United States Army against Native Americans. Despite this stunning victory for the tribes, it would prove the high point of their resistance, as the United States reformed its army and intensified its efforts, eventually defeating the Confederacy at the Battle of Fallen Timbers.
