The speaker contends that phones and computers actually enhance interaction, allowing for global connectivity and collaborative learning that extends beyond the confines of a physical classroom. The experience during COVID-19 showed that while some in-person interactions might be necessary, most learning can occur online, and the real problem lies in the relevance of what is being taught. Prensky suggests that much of the traditional school curriculum, like algebra, is not useful in real life, as most people forget it. He argues that real learning happens when students are engaged and excited about what they are doing, driving them to learn skills and knowledge relevant to their interests and goals. Forcing students to follow a fixed curriculum is seen as an ineffective approach in the modern era.
