Commissioned by the Wing Luke Museum in Seattle, the novel weaves together the experiences of Mitsuye Endo, who challenged her incarceration in a landmark Supreme Court case; Jim Akutsu, who resisted the draft from within a concentration camp; and Hiroshi Kashiwagi, who refused to answer a loyalty questionnaire. The graphic novel draws parallels between historical and contemporary instances of racial discrimination, highlighting the ongoing relevance of these stories.
