So you ask them.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eBut you don't think they have told you everything, so you need to press them for more of an answer. What should you ask them?\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eNothing. \u003cbr/\u003eSilence is so uncomfortable, people will fill it. And if that means giving away a little more than they intended to, that's often what they'll do.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eSomeone asks you a question. What's the first response you should give?\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eA pause. \u003cbr/\u003eI know you learned at school that if you don't have the answer quickly, the teacher won't think you're bright. But this isn't school. If you answer too quickly, you're saying 'that's an easy question'.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eSo, why would I ask you an easy question? \u003cbr/\u003eI wouldn't. Not if I'm bright. So a quick answer implies I'm foolish.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eA pause, however, says: 'That's a good question. I need to think about it'. Silence can flatter. And give you time to shape your answer with care.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eYou need to make a project presentation. What's the first thing you should do when you stand up and take the platform?\u003cbr/\u003e\u003cbr/\u003eSilence. \u003cbr/\u003eA  'Power Pause' lets you take in your audience, wait for their attention, and show absolute confidence. Diving straight in makes you look nervous.
