I think this means that the outcomes we get are dictated by a simple equation:

Event + Response = Outcome

So, we are the product of our experiences – outcomes
Out choices select the path we take – both on a single project and across a whole career. This reminds me of something Heraclitus said: 'Character is destiny' - a quote used by US Senator, John McCain, as the title for his book.\n
