A LESSON FROM NEUROSCIENCE: Professor Churchland shares her concerns that because so much of science has been directed towards certain aspects of the pandemic that people will focus on the applied business of science and no longer see the importance of basic research and highlights related lessons that have been learned from recent basic neuroscientific research. BASIC AND APPLIED: Dr Paunov talks about the development and the success of mRNA vaccines during the pandemic, how it was originally designed as a vaccine against cancer which shows the importance of supporting both experimental and basic research.
