The Subtraction Rule states to subtract, change the subtraction sign to addition and then the value that follows the subtraction sign to its opposite. Or, change to addition and add the opposite. Student friendly language - KEEP - CHANGE - OPPOSITE. I will model both using this rule and modeling on a number line. Five student practice problems are presented one at a time and each has a modeled solution.\n
