The change of base formula states that when we have a log of a to the base of b, we can evaluate the logarithm by using a common base for both a and b as follows: log of a to the base of x divided by log of b to the base of x. (i.e. log [base b] (a) = log [base x] (a) / log [base x] (b). Doing so we can change the base of the given logarithm to a base that can be easily evaluated (usually base 10 which is the base used by calculators or base e).\n
