There’s be a recent influx of Indian candidates taking the IELTS Exam.

A majority of them are taking it for immigration purposes, aiming for that Express Entry Visa to Canada.

Here at IELTS Energy, we are fascinated with this data, and are hoping we can help more of you pass the IELTS Exam and move on to your future dreams.

So, according to IELTS data for 2017, the average for the Listening Exam for an Indian candidate was just over a 6.

Why?

Presumably, many of you have had English in your life for a very long time. Perhaps you are even working and living in the States or Canada already.

The keys to increasing that to the needed 8 for Listening lie in solid test preparation and knowing the strategies.

Plus, you must widen the English you are listening to, including accents and a broader range of topics.

For Reading, the average Indian candidate gets less than a 6.

Why?

Here, it is ALL ABOUT TEST STRATEGIES. You cannot read every word. You must have the testing skills, like skimming and scanning, and know which questions are in order and not in order, for instance.

As to Writing, again, the average score is less than a 6.

Why?

IELTS is not like the real world. Especially in the General Training Task 1 letter, you have to fulfill very specific IELTS requirements to score highly.

You must also organize your essay very clearly and directly.

Lastly, the average Speaking score was only a 6.

Much of this, for an Indian candidate, comes down to pronunciation.

You must speak more slowly, or your Pronunciation and Fluency scores will be low.
