A hyperbola is a conic section with two fixed points called the foci such that the difference between the distances of any point on the hyperbola from the two foci is equal to the distance between the two foci. Some of the characteristics of a hyperbola includes the center which is the mid-point between the two vertices. The vertices are the intercepts of the hyperbola. The foci are two fixed points on the hyperbola used to define the hyperbola. The asymptotes are lines which the hyperbola will get close to by does not touch or cross it. And the formula of a hyperbola is given by (x - h)^2 / a^2 - (y - k)^2 / b^2 = 1 Note that a hyperbola can be vertical (facing up and down) or horizontal (facing right and left). The formular given above refers to a horizontal hyperbola.\n
